This is the most common type of valuation conducted to prepare a business for sale. It is a final check to ensure that all the value drivers are identified. It is also a useful due diligence tool for buyers as part of their due diligence process. This type of valuation addresses some of the high-level value drivers and provides an estimate of value. This level of valuation is appropriate for internal management decisions such as determining the timing of a divestiture or testing management decisions year-over-year. This type of valuation is associated with a higher cost than a pricing analysis and reporting is provided to explain assumption, methods, and limitations.
